Outstanding Cambridge learner awards

Exceptional exam results

Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards are a group of awards issued by Cambridge Assessment International Education. They recognise exceptional learner achievement in Cambridge examinations around the world. The primary purpose of these awards is to celebrate and recognise the success of high-performing Cambridge learners.

All Cambridge Assessment International Education students are eligible for the prestigious ‘Top in the World’ award. In those countries where Cambridge examinations are taken by more students a wider range of awards are available, including ‘Top in Country’, ‘Best Across’ and ‘High Achievement’.

Here we celebrate the Wolsey Hall Oxford students who have achieved an outstanding Cambridge learner award.

Award for: Best IGCSE English Exam in India

“Over the six years I studied with Wolsey Hall, the guidance and help I received from my tutors and student progress manager really encouraged me to try my best. The depth and detail of each course was challenging but enormously rewarding, and I don’t believe I would have developed such a strong passion for learning without Wolsey. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and am looking forward to attending university next year.”

Award for: AS Level English Language

“Without Wolsey it would have been impossible for me to achieve the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award, and the same can be said of my other academic achievements as well,” says Hannah. “Wolsey has given me the resources and support over the years to motivate me through my secondary education, and because of the effort that has been put into making Wolsey Hall a great distance-learning program, I can proudly share my successes.”

Award for: AS Level Law

Rafael had this to say about his time with Wolsey Hall, “It helped me gain a level of independence, which has been instrumental in my studies. Even if I am currently studying a legal system that is exceedingly different from the English system, the baseline understanding of Law gave me a head start. I especially want to thank the wonderful tuition and guidance I received from Mr Mason and the whole of Wolsey Hall. Thus granting me tools to obtain an A* in my A level Law, obtaining the highest grade in Spain.”

Award for: IGCSE Biology

Wolsey Hall Oxford student Celia Sherriff who is homeschooling in Zambia, was selected by the British Council in Zambia (where she sat her IGCSE exams) to receive the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Award certificate and prize for her excellent result in IGCSE Biology.

Award for: 2nd Best Cambridge Outstanding Learner, Seychelles

“I am currently pursuing a degree in Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester. I applied through Wolsey’s University Advice Service, which made the process a lot smoother. I plan to continue writing and publishing my work along the way while growing my business.”

Shao Yuan (Victor)

Award for: 95% grade achievement in AS Level Maths

“We had a great time at the ceremony. Victor is obviously the youngest award winner as he skipped two years of Maths in school. The other winners for AS or A Level are either at Year 13 or studying at University level already! The IGCSE subject award winners were already in Year 12, whilst Victor is only in Year 11. I hope he will get more awards next year, with his IGCSE subjects and A Level Maths.” Lisa, Victor’s mother.

Award for: A Level English Language

“I am so thankful that I was given the opportunity to study with Wolsey Hall for the last four years. I was able to work at my own pace and was given access to an amazing number of resources that I otherwise would not have had at a regular school. The courses were by far the most vibrant and interesting I have taken. Wolsey guaranteed that I would get the best support possible so that I could perform to the best of my ability! I would like to thank my student progress manager Helena Cantone who was always so helpful and kind. I would also like to thank my amazing tutors in History and English, Michelle Feeney, Fiona Williams, and Alexander Rhodes. The impact they have had on my life has been enormous. The passion and enthusiasm they had for their subjects helped me find a genuine love for learning, something you can’t put a price on.”

Yanisa (Genie)

Award for: IGCSE First Language English

“I have always enjoyed writing and I am confident that helped with the ease of my exam sitting. Apart from loving to read and write in my own time, the assignments and helpful feedback that were given to me by my tutor at Wolsey Hall were very beneficial. I got to consistently test the waters and improve my writing skills. I will be starting university in May and I am extremely excited to begin a new chapter of my life!”
