Homeschooling a child with dyslexia

Wolsey Hall Oxford understands that when homeschooling a dyslexic child a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach is unlikely to work. Our courses can support dyslexic students in 3 key areas:

Flexibility:

  • Families are able to organise the school day in a way that suits the student
  • Work can be set at the learning level of the student
  • Families will receive support from their Student Progress Manager to help manage the timetable
  • Courses can be run alongside other commitments

Pace:

  • Students are able to work at a pace that suits them
  • This allows time to develop good study skill habits
  • There are no demands to keep up with the class

Understanding

  • Experienced Tutors and Student Progress Managers are helpful and patient
  • Positive feedback from Tutors focuses on strengths to help build self-esteem
  • Specialist teachers are available to support with additional tuition as an additional service if needed
  • Our Learning Support Team are on hand to offer advice and guidance
