Homeschooling in London

A top quality education

Wolsey Hall Oxford is thrilled to support a growing number of families homeschooling in London.

Founded in 1894, Wolsey Hall is one of the world’s most established homeschooling course providers. We are one of just four online schools that are Cambridge approved for Lower Secondary, IGCSE and A level and we are the first Cambridge approved online Primary school. Our courses are revised, developed and improved regularly, ensuring a top quality education for your child.

Many of our students homeschooling in London intend to go on to university. Our IGCSE and A level courses are well recognised and respected by top Universities in the UK and around the world. We also offer a University Advice Service where students can gain help in selecting and applying to UK or International Universities.

Support and encouragement

Our Tutors and Student Progress Managers are there to support you every step of the way. Students work through modules independently using our online learning platform, Canvas and submit an assignment at the end of each module. Our highly qualified and experienced Tutors mark these and provide detailed and encouraging feedback, highlighting what the student has done well in addition to providing areas for improvement that students can work on for their next assignment. Our Tutors are also available, at any point during the course, to answer specific questions via email.

Our courses include

  • All the required textbooks. Textbook delivery is free for students in the UK.
  • Our Online platform, Canvas, with easy to follow course modules that allow students to study at their own pace
  • Enjoyable and engaging quizzes throughout the modules to test for understanding.
  • Assignments at the end of each module which are marked by our qualified Tutors.
  • Parental access to our online platform to allow progress to be monitored.
  • Email support from Tutors if students need help.
  • A dedicated Student Progress Manager who ensures students stay on track.
I would recommend Wolsey Hall Oxford to anyone considering homeschooling. Each course has plenty of resources on canvas and the course books are very informative. Any questions or help that we needed (preparing and arranging exams etc) have always been dealt with by the friendly tutors and student progress manager. My daughter achieved excellent IGCSE results and is now taking an A Level course.

We joined Wolsey Hall Oxford in Years 3 and 4 and our childrens’ quality of education has improved dramatically. We are deeply impressed with the curriculum, the superb Tutors, the Director of Studies and our constantly available Student Progress Manager. We simply could have not taken a better decision for our childrens’ education; their knowledge and confidence have been transformed in the space of a few months. We live in London and are the first ones in our group of friends, neighbours and professional network to take the decision of homeschooling. What at the time felt like a very brave move socially, it is now totally normal to us and those around us. We have made a very successful transition with the old classmates into solid friends, they often drop in by our house after school, and have created many more new friendships through other activities. Our children are now more social than ever! We keep normal school hours in the morning and early afternoon, and fill-in the later afternoon with playdates and group activities, like art, guitar, dance and drama lessons, choir rehearsals and sports. My husband and I are also enjoying how much more compatible a flexible schooling schedule is with our professional lives, particularly around travelling. We still have to pinch ourselves that such flexibility is possible while our children get the very best education we could dream of.

During the lockdown I got very bored and didn’t have much to do. Now I look forward to my art lessons every Friday and it means I can work on my art all weekend as well if I want to. I have really enjoyed this course. The video lessons are very easy to follow and I have learned so many new skills. Paula makes it look easy. I love using new materials and techniques. Sometimes the skills are very hard. It is ok to make mistakes as long as you are getting better. I am very proud of my work. I can’t wait until the next unit, it looks like so much fun!
