IGCSE course information

Information to help you decide

We hope this page will give you the information you need as you select your IGCSE Subjects.

In the UK most children take six to nine IGCSE subjects over two academic years to gain a broader education before progressing on to A levels.

Cambridge IGCSE exams are held in May/June and in October/November each year in most of the world. The May/June sitting is the most popular sitting. There is also a March exam for students in India and Romania.

For more details see IGCSE Exam Information and take a look at our latest Exam Results.

All of our IGCSE courses have several past exam papers in the final module. These include the most recent paper which can be taken as a mock exam and submitted to your Tutor for assessment and feedback for an additional fee.

We are pleased to be able to offer Wolsey Hall students the opportunity to book 1:1 tuition at IGCSE level in English, Maths, Sciences and Modern Foreign Languages. Each session lasts 45 minutes. Our courses are designed with a self-study approach, however, you may wish your child to have the opportunity to discuss a particular topic area with a tutor and our 1:1 sessions allow them to direct their learning in this way.

Hours of study

Our IGCSE courses take approximately 150 hours of study, plus the time needed for preparation of each assignment (10 – 12 assignments per subject).

Allow up to 180 hours of study for IGCSE English, Maths or Combined Science.

The time could be longer or shorter than this depending on your child’s ability as a learner, their organisational skills and the support they receive at home.

We provide a handy study hours calculator to families to work out how many hours per week their child will need to study. The calculator takes into account holidays and exam dates.
