Tom Kontogiannis

I am an experienced and well qualified teacher, dedicated to the field of Mathematics for over twenty years. I earned a BSc in Mathematics at McGill University in Canada and carried out further study through the Open University, obtaining an MSc. My career has taken me from Greece to Canada and now Oxford. I have taught IGCSE and A level courses, in both schools and colleges. I have also tutored extensively on a one to one basis and in small groups.

I use a variety of tools in teaching Maths, including online applications. I believe that learners should have as many resources as possible at their disposal to help them understand and appreciate the various aspects of this exciting subject. A well-structured lesson plan is beneficial to learners of all levels and capacities since it helps them to focus on the crucial elements of the subject.

I have a passion for teaching, and I always strive to engage my students with continuous feedback. I focus on their strong points and work to deepen their understanding of the topics with which they don’t feel entirely comfortable. I thrive on seeing my students progress and achieving their full learning capacity.

Outside teaching, I enjoy travelling, reading good books and riding my bicycle. In the summertime I enjoy swimming and whenever I have the opportunity I go mountain climbing with my family. I also like indoor sports in particular table tennis and badminton.

I’m delighted to be a Tutor at Wolsey Hall and to have the opportunity of helping you achieve success in Maths.
